Last Goodbyes

After saying my last goodbyes to Ann in Whitby this morning, I was lucky to have Jackie and Lorraine waiting for me to pick up the pieces.  We chose the garden centre on the way out as our venue for coffee and drinks, which was sensible as I might have found it difficult to find another parking space.  We spent the morning together and my plan had been to involve myself in some sketching, which I find almost meditative.  However, when I arrived in the car-park at Scaling Dam it was blowing a gale, so I abandoned the idea of sketching and just walked for a while.  Actually a bit further than I’ve walked with Ann but not quite far enough to opt for the full circuit.  Instead I became interested in the remains of a former fence that was standing in the water.  I rather like this one with its soft greens, but I have another that I might try to work up.

Ann will return to Danby tomorrow afternoon.  She is ready to say goodbye.
