Black bryony

Whilst being terribly poinsonous this plant looks splendid just now with its strings of beads decorating the hedgerows.  Apparently it is also called the English Mandrake as the roots take on a human form.
It has been one of those gorgeous late summer days.. warm sun, (when it came out from behind the clouds) and the hum of distant combines.  The Robin has started singing from the tree tops again and the wasps are numerous. They seem to particularly like the ivy flowers in the hedge at the moment.  I have a rather lovely cotoneaster tree which is covered in wasps and (horrors!!) hornets.. regularly see 4 or 5 hornet amongst the branches.
