Flying

Set off after bacon rolls in drizzle which worsened to driving rain as we drove to St Andrews, but was only spitting when we arrived and we enjoyed a wander around the town (including past the University quad which for some reason had appropriate hearts marked all over the grass-extra) and up some back roads to the castle which I hadn’t seen before. Chilly but became pretty sunny and we stopped at the old course clubhouse for them to have a drink and watch some golfers for a while. Then we headed to the beach which looked amazing...tide far out, loose sand skidding across the surface and lots of sea potatoes along the shoreline which I collected up. Drawing and jumping on the beach for a while (extra), then headed to our afternoon activity at The Scottish Countryman flying birds of prey. He was really informative and interesting, and very friendly and we enjoyed the barn owl, falcon, hawk and this eagle owl called Fergus who was quite a character! The huge golden eagle was amazing to see up close. All enjoyed it, then to Anstruther for fish and chips which again went down very well before home and another early night....we were all tired out!
