Wordsworth Street in Hawkshead
Fascinating street name in the village of Hawkshead in the Lake District. Most the cottages, teashops, and guest houses that line the streets of Hawkshead date to the 17th century. Ann Tyson's cottage, where William Wordsworth lodged while attending the Grammar School is on this street, now Wordsworth Street. He was a scholar here with his brother John. The brothers carved their names into their desks on the ground floor, where you can still see them today along with the marks made by centuries of students. There is a photo of the street itself in the 'extras'.
