Welcome Rain

We haven't had rain for quite a while, so today's late afternoon gentle shower was very welcome. The scent of rain, as well as its sound, and the way it leaves the air freshened, are all blessings during this strange time.

The extra photo just how bad the air quality was this afternoon -- not as bad as Portland has been experiencing, but still anxiety-inducing.

Nothing, however, can be more anxiety-inducing than our logorrheic president, whose touted (by him) knowledge of science includes this succinct explanation for forest fires, which he shared during his two-hour visit to California today: "When trees fall down after a short period of time, they become very dry -- really like a matchstick. And they can explode. Also leaves. When you have dried leaves on the ground, it's just fuel for the fires."

I'm surprised that he didn't recommend paving over all of the national parks.
