Male Goldcrest

F and I went for a walk at Llynclys this morning.  It was grey and misty but it was a lovely walk.  We saw a flock of small birds in the trees but we couldn't positively identify them as they were flitting among the leaves.

Eventually one showed itself on the outside of the tree - a beautiful male goldcrest (the female has a yellow stripe and the male an orange one). It is the smallest bird in Europe measuring 9cm and weighing just 6g.
