Taken on our week over in the Lakes, we drove over to Wasdale so that I could show Helen what I believe to be probably the best mountain view in England (the head of Wasdale - Yewbarrow, Great Gable, Scafell Pike, etc) but within 20 minutes of setting off, the clouds came down, it started to pour and we could barely see anything. I pressed on, knowing how changeable mountain weather can be, got all the way to Wastwater and could hardly see a thing! The low cloud lifted, however, for just a short time, and allowed us (at least) a view of the screes which cascade down from Illgill Head! When I was a young, fit lad, I used to run down scree slopes - great fun - but not a chance these days!
