Travesty

Last time I made a cake, it wasn’t great. I decided I’d try a recipe from a book. It was fine till I realised I didn’t have the right tin. Some pi sums later, I used two tins and baked the cakes for half the time. I think that’s where it went wrong. That and forgetting to grease the baking paper. Dr Oetker was applied in blobs to the bottom layer. The top layer had to be fitted like a crumbling jigsaw on top. The icing on the top had to be pourable. At least the cake is moist.

My friend is going to send me the fail-safe recipe she’s being using for years.
