Train Ride

A larger family outing today as we met my Mum and my brother for a ride on the Talyllyn.   The weather was less cooperative than yesterday but didn't dampen our spirits.  The time passed all too quickly.   Hot drinks and delicious cakes were enjoyed at Abergynolwyn and on the way back photos were taken to record the first time Grandma had seen Ruth and Jamie together for quite a few years.   Some were better than others and the odd one provoked laughter for one reason or another - as here.   A more formal one in extra.

In the background above is Rhydyronen station and just beyond it, the camp site where we first stayed fifty years ago.   "People thought I was mad," my mum recalled as we remembered those times under canvas, five kids, one just a babe, no hot water, no electricity and my Dad back in London at work for ten days mid month every year.   They were good holidays.  Formative times, life changing.   It must have been hard at times,  "Thank goodness for the Tywyn Monday Market.  Got me out of trouble when I left all your waterproofs behind one year."   Some years were relentlessly wet but not all, remember the heatwave in1976.   Good memories all.
