Hungry

A hive of activity here today, in one way and another!

The logs for our woodburner were delivered this morning, hopefully enough to keep us going through the winter, and save a bit on central heating bills. They came in two deliveries, as the supplier initially thought we had ordered only half a load - maybe just as well, as half a load almost filled the space in the 'yard, and it enabled MrM to stack the first lot under cover before the second arrived.

Our small business continues, despite the total lack of festivals (where we usually sell instruments, and gain commissions) and the coming of Brexit proper. Today two instruments were collected, and went home with their new owners. One, a classical guitar, was commissioned by a lovely local lady, who was delighted with her new instrument. The other, a mandolin, was originally commissioned ages ago by a young musician in the US, who had very specific requirements, but kept changing them. The latest change would have meant taking apart the finished instrument! Er, no! To cut a long story short, MrM is starting from scratch for the guy in the US, and the mandolin has been bought by a friend, who loves it! Every cloud, as they say!

Late afternoon, MrM and I walked up to the Common. It seems much more autumnal than it did a week ago. We spotted three red squirrels around the feeders, including this little guy (and he's definitely a guy!). He was in and out of the feeder as we watched, eating as much as he could, until disturbed by an adversary, when they both disappeared up the tree, chattering loudly.

It's forecast to rain overnight, so when we got back I spent a while helping MrM to move the second lot of logs under cover.

Good to speak on the phone with Tom later on.

Heard today that a friend in West Yorkshire has tested positive for Covid, now on day 8 and so far without serious symptoms. Hoping she continues to improve...
