In a country churchyard...

...a simply fashioned cross, now home to a diversity of mosses and lichens, caught my eye. I'd gone out with the intention of trying to photograph redpolls and bramblings, but the recommended hide was a longer walk than I'd anticipated, and I just didn't have enough time. I dropped in at Yaxley Church on the way home to try and get a panoramic view over the fens, but there were just too many intervening trees and houses. So I spent a little time watching white doves and jackdaws on the church steeple, happily perching on the gargoyles and grotesques. But in the end this little corner of biodiversity was my choice, standing out against the warm sunlit colours of the churchyard wall.
