Beach Fun Run

This dog was having a fantastic time running around the beach, into the sea and back to its owners and off again - goodness knows how far it ran. A lovely walk with H at West Runton beach this morning, there were some interesting clouds as per the Extra.

Day 211 / Day 29 of Rule of Six (for my record only)
UK deaths up 50 to 42,875 (revised basis), with a 13,972 rise in new daily cases, 3,837 patients in hospital and 442 in ventilator beds. Total cases to date in the US passes 8m. From Wed the Rule of Six will be merged into the 3 Tier System announced today which aims to simplify the local lockdown restrictions. The PM, Chancellor and CMO did a woefully brief and inadequate 15 min presentation to explain the current medical situation, the new 3 tier system and the financial support in place. It came across as something they had to get through as quickly as possible, as opposed to something to inform the average person and help them to understand the risks and how they can reduce them, get them on board in complying with restrictions, and help them to understand what support is there and how they get it. It was said that the number of cases has quadrupled in the last 3 weeks, with more people now in hospital with Covid than had been before the lockdown in March.

All areas in England will be put into 1 of 3 local Covid alert levels, which will shortly be identifiable via the Govt coronavirus website and NHS Covid app, alongside what restrictions apply.
Medium: (Fewer than 100 cases per 100k). Current national restrictions including the Rule of Six and the 10pm curfew for pubs, bars and restaurants.
HIgh: No mixing of households or support bubbles indoors. Rule of Six applies outdoors in public spaces and private gardens.
Very High: No mixing of households indoors and outdoors, including in private gardens. Bars and pubs to close unless they can operate as restaurants. People advised not to travel in or out of these areas. Local politicians to decide whether other leisure venues and hairdressers / beauty salons should close. (The PM also pledged more support for local Test & Trace; more funding for local enforcement; and help from the Armed Forces for Very High areas).
Only Liverpool City Region is currently to be a Very High area from Wed. Personally I think this is negligent given that some other areas in the North are severely affected and NHS Nightingales have been told to get ready to accept patients in Manchester, Sunderland and Harrogate. To me travelling outside a Very High area should be subject to a big fine!
Note: The rules are slightly different on the Press briefing and news websites, so the above might not be accurate!

In China, a city of 9m is to be tested in only 5 days after just 12 new cases were identified. Most GCSE and A-level exams to be delayed by 3 weeks next year in order to allow some catch up time. There is more speculation that the BoE is to move to negative interest rates - eek!  3 students at the UEA in Norwich who were supposed to be self-isolating as showing Covid signs, held a house party attended by c100 people - they've been fined 10k each (and I hope they get kicked out!)
