Life's Little Moments

An unexpectedly good day in the garden with 4 new (for the year) species of birds, including this well-named Golden-crowned Kinglet.  It's been several years since I've seen this species in the yard and, in fact, I think I have only recorded them here maybe twice besides today.  So, although it's not my best image, it is definitely deserving of today's "moment".

We have two species of kinglets and both are ridiculously hard to photograph mainly because they constantly dart about in trees and shrubs gleaning insects.  They commonly catch their prey on the wing which involves short sorties out of said tree or shrub, into the air, and then back into the vegetation.

In the next day or so, I'll blip the first pine siskins of the year as they are showing up in big numbers all over our area right now.  At peak today, I counted over 20 of them.

Talked to mom and dad this morning - they are in good spirits and were headed out for a 3k walk after we got off the phone.

We didn't get as much rain as was originally forecast for today, but it is quite chilly and damp.  Which did not deter me from hunkering down on the deck, bundled up in two polar fleeces and a knit scarf, snapping this and that.

Not watching the Supreme Court hearings today.  It will just irritate me and what is the point?  Sadly, I think I may well live to see the overturn of Roe v. Wade in my lifetime.  Don't get me wrong - I'm not pro-abortion, but I am pro-choice.   There's a difference.

Stay safe - stay connected - be kind.
