Beneath Biscay

San Pedro Sunset

Started the day with a walk right around Punta Herminia, right behind our hotel and past the oldest continuously working lighthouse in the world. The 'Tower of Hercules', built by the Romans in the second century.

We carried on walking around the coastline and past the main beach, Playa de Orzan, then met up with C for a delicious Thai-fusion lunch, after which it was back to the hotel for a siesta.

Dragged ourselves out again and drove to Monte de San Pedro, which we've never visited before. It's the site of A Coruña's main old shore battery, but now a park. There are still a couple of massive guns on turntables and a few smaller guns. A very nice park with a maze, which we didn't have time to try because we only had 20 minutes in the park before closing time. Next time we visit A Coruña we must pay another visit but allow more time.
