A Day Worth Recording

Open Can; Find Worm

Holes are never simple at the Dell House.

One downpipe drain blocked regularly in the ancient 'gully' where it entered the ground - terminally so a few weeks back.  So, we bodged a stopgap solution until our contractors could get here today.  Digging out the old pipework was going well until this fellow appeared.  We've absolutely no idea what this one relates to as the room it appears to come from has no plumbing.

There was a brief period of excitement as we had been told that that room (now a ground floor bedroom) had been the location of the plunge bath when this was the "Dell Hydro" - but, despite appearances, the pipe is plastic and thus somewhat newer than the 1930's.

Given we'll be backfilling with weak concrete we didn't want to leave it there, or remove it.  Settled on routing it to the drain chamber and capping it there so that if it should appear to be relevant we still have access to the end of it.
