Ta-da!

Ta-da!
The safflower, Carthamus tinctorius,  is fully open.
This flower is new to me, I bought it at the flower shop.
I now know, thanks to the internet, that it is a thistle flower.
The oil from the flower is used as a color additive in food and in soft drinks.

I also learned that the flower can be sown as an annual in Sweden, but I have never seen it in any garden. But it may come, it is delightfully wild and beautiful.

Here you can see the bud and the just opened flower.
