Our Lady of Lebanon

The threatened heavy rain, severe thunderstorms and giant hailstones swerved to the south, leaving Parramatta sunny and dry. After the colonial buildings and river walk we ended up at Our Lady of Lebanon, a Maronite cathedral with an impressive candlelight display in its sloping car park. The 2020 candles marking the end of the liturgical year are lit by hand each evening. The outlines are the maps of Lebanon (red) and Australia (blue). The woman in the gift shop lit quite a few of them.

After that the only thing for it was a late lunch at a Lebanese restaurant in the next suburb. A wedding party drew up to the adjacent reception venue in stretch limos, decanting the groom and his attendants. Not wearing socks seems to be a thing.

Have a great Saturday everyone!
