Teampall Mholuidh

An absolutely gorgeous day today, warm and sunny, so my daughter and I took a short drive down to the village Eoropie, near the NW tip of Lewis, to visit the historic church. As you can see, it is tiny (about 45 feet by 18 feet). It was probably built on an old pre-Christian site, but this church was consecrated by at least the 6th century, so it has seen quite a lot of action over the centuries. It is only used (by the Scottish Episcopal Church) a couple of times a year (e.g. at Christmas eve) but the door is always open to visitors. Some more shots of this are on my Blipfoto Extra Album over on my Picasa site.
