A time for everything

Place Jacques Cartier at dusk

This morning Roger and I flew to Albany, New York, en route to Montreal - it was cheaper than flying direct to Montreal. Previously he has flown to Burlington, Vermont, which is quite a bit closer, but there is no longer a direct flight, so we decided we might as well spend more time in a car than more time in an airport! We had to return our first rental car, as the annoying warning noise kept sounding, with the warning light showing that one of the doors wasnt properly shut, when they all were! We had lunch at a Chinese place, then set off for Montreal. It was a lovely sunny day, so it was a very pleasant drive, taking us through the Adirondacks. We reached Montreal about 5pm and found our hotel, which was conveniently located just three blocks from Old Montreal and a couple of blocks from Chinatown. After having a bit of a rest, we walked down into Old Montreal to find somewhere to eat. It was a pretty cold night, so we were glad of our hats and gloves! We found a nice little French restaurant - only two tables were occupied when we arrived - both of them American couples - so the waiter reckoned it was American night! We enjoyed a great meal, washed down with some red wine!
