A Busy Friday

Woke up to a soaking rain. I slept so soundly last night that I didn't hear the rain last night, but my husband said it poured. I spent much of the day working on botanical garden stuff. We're currently looking for the right land to build the garden on. Today we had a fascinating conversation with representatives from the Oregon Dept of Environmental Quality and the local EPA as well as an attorney who specializes in reuse of superfund sites. Superfund is a federal EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) program in which they identify and clean up contaminated sites (in a nutshell). At any rate, one such site has come to our attention and we had a fascinating virtual conversation about it this morning - 2 1/2 hours!

More desk work and then a walk during a rain break. It was lovely, crisp air and I could smell the firs...the rain must have really pounded them - normally they're not so fragrant just wandering around in the neighborhood. A walk through my garden netted today's blip which is Euphorbia martinii  'Ascot Rainbow'. What a stunner, huh? Especially with those raindrops glowing on it! It should stay evergreen all winter - what a bonus!
