I decided that I would sketch today as it’s 3 months since I sat on the hillside above Castleton creating fairly abstract watercolours of the heather and moorland on the day Ann died - at the time I had no idea what awaited!  Today I was aiming for something to go with the watercolour which I could  develop as a mono-print, but what I drew seemed to escape the constraints of the watercolour sketch.  Anyway I had fun drawing with soft conte crayons on an anthracite coloured pastel type drawing paper which had a bit of `tooth’ to it.  I’m not sure if I’ll take it further but I’m sure Ann would have been pleased to see me sketching.  She always thought I did too much photography and not enough drawing and printmaking.

A quiet kind of indoor day for me.
