WHO lives here?! The Wick, Richmond Hill

L2 Day 17 cycled to Richmond, a quick circuit through very busy Richmond Park - car parks full before 10am, then looked at some of the old houses on Richmond Hill which overlook the Thames. They have the famous view that Turner painted.... see Blip from October 30th.
The Wick is a Grade 1 Georgian House built in 1775. It became the family home of actor Sir John Mills who sold it to Ronnie Wood in 1971. Since 1996 it has been owned by Pete Townshend of the Who. It reputedly has a recording studio in the basement.
The extra photo is of Downe House, 116 Richmond Hill, which dates from about 1780 and at one time was owned by the playwright Richard Sheridan. Mick Jagger bought the house in the early 1990s where he lived with his then wife Jerry Hall. After they separated Jerry Hall stayed in the house. This house was originally much bigger with a wing on each side ...these have now been made into separate houses...no 118, Ashburton House on the right and No 114, Norfolk Lodge on the left.
Both houses are very near the Star and Garter Home and less than 200 yards from the entrance to Richmond Park.
