Stuff and Nonsense

Jenny Wren

This morning we popped over to Marbury Country Park for a walk. The carpark was very busy but thankfully there is ample space to walk to avoid the mass of dog walkers, who generally stay quite close to the carpark area.  There are a number of screens where you can sit and watch the birds  which is great. The first one by the mere seemed to be taken over with “regulars” as they all seemed to know each other and were there for the duration with their scopes and tripods attached to the window ledges. Needless to say, we didn’t stay there long and moved on to the woodland screen past the dipping pond. It was busy too, but this time with birds not people! We had it to ourselves for about 15 minutes and then someone else came and scared off the woodpecker, so we moved on. On the way back to the path I spied some large fungus and took a couple of shots. Imagine my surprise when this lovely little wren popped up and stood on the top of one for a few seconds. I couldn’t not use it now could I?

Back home and the going is slow on the jigsaw of Liverpool - we only have sky left and it’s really hard! I think it will be a few days before this one is finished.  We were chatting to our neighbours this morning on the drive and they informed us that there was a huge bucket of Bramley apples going free along the lane - the owners obviously had too many and were giving them away, so I went along and picked up a few so I can make some apple crumble later in the week. Yum!
