HASS no. 8

Romain Grosjean's fireball incident is a horrendous reminder.
Grosjean hit the barrier at 137mph and the impact measured a force of 53G. He was in the inferno for nearly 30 seconds before extracting himself and then being helped over the barrier by FIA doctor Ian Roberts, who had just arrived in the medical car, run towards the flames, and helped a marshal set off a fire extinguisher before going to the driver's aid.
I was reminded of the sad death of a driver not a friend but knew from saloon car racing and had sat at a table in the pub with.
Roger Williamson (2 February 1948 – 29 July 1973) was a British racing driver, a two time British Formula 3 champion, who died during his second Formula One race, the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort Circuit in the Netherlands.
Be warned watching videos but I saw this live on tv. The marshals did not have PPE or fire ex etc. The race was not stopped - things have changed but in yesterday's race Lance Stroll was upside down and their was not and immediate means of turning the car upright. He did manage to get out and he had no fire.
Thankfully both drivers are ok
