This flowering shrub has taken over a lot of the scrubland, including the vacant plot for sale beyond the garden. I do hope no-one buys it, as the noise and mess involved in felling huge trees and bushes that have self-seeded there over the years, and the months of construction work of a new villa, would destroy both our peaceful haven and the view. Am I being selfish?
