An ordinary life....

By Damnonii

T'was the night before Christmas...

It was Anna's funeral this morning.  Not able to attend due to covid restrictions, I was at least able to join the service online.

It was a lovely service.  The celebrant spoke very well and the words he spoke, written by Eddie as his final tribute to Anna were beautiful and so moving.  As the service ended and the small number of mourners left the crematorium, I couldn't help think that in "normal" times what a huge turnout there would have been.  She touched so many peoples' lives.

When that was over, I texted Agnes to see how she is feeling.  We got the news last night that 10 days after Adrian was diagnosed with Covid-19, she now has it too.  Hardly surprising.  Thankfully as with Adrian the symptoms are mild.  She says she feels as though she has a bad head cold.  Sinuses especially affected.  She's thankful she still has her sense of taste though!

Alan is very excited about tomorrow, not just because it's Christmas Day, but because Christine will be here.  Oh how he adores her.  In fact it's no longer known as Christmas Day but Christine Day!  lol  He (helped by moi :-)) sent her a selfie. She sent one back.  He was beside himself!  :-))

The lamb for Christmas dinner is now prepped, veggies done, the Keylime Pie is made,   Alan's had a great session in the pool and is now happily watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, David is setting the table for Christmas dinner (don't forget the crackers!!  We always forget the crackers! :-), I have my G&T, James Taylor's Christmas album is playing, I am admiring the lovely flowers D's sister Ele sent, and dinner courtesy of J&F's Dine at Home service is in the oven.

All that remains is the annual Christmas Eve argument discussion over whether to watch Love Actually or Die Hard...actually I think we're going for something different this year, not sure what though.  Suggestions welcome :-))

But over and above all of that, I am sitting counting my blessings and  giving thanks for all the love and laughter in my life, and for all the family and friends (real ones and those who live in my computer :-) who make this journey through life so joyful, even in this most horrendous of years.  I am so lucky.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.  It may not be the Christmas we'd planned to have, but we're still here and able to spread the love, not the Covid!

Feliz Navidad :-)) xxx

1 sleep!
