Life through the lens...

By ValC

Down by the riverside.

What a beautiful sunny day. Not sure what happened to Storm Bella but it has given us a miss.

Drove to our favourite spot, Naburn Locks, for a walk along the river. Always so peaceful here.
Had a cup of coffee and chocolate before our walk and ham and pickle sandwiches, and Christmas cake for a picnic lunch before we set off back home.

The river was very high and the weir had totally disappeared.
Part of the path was also flooded but we managed to find a way round.
Lots of geese making their usual hullabaloo. Also saw some longtailed tits flitting about in the trees.
Looking up I noticed some pussy willow beginning to burst into bud. A real sign that Spring is just around the corner.

No problem on the roads until we reached Castleford on the way home. The road over the river/ canal was closed due to flooding, and so a detour took us back to the M62 via Swillington.

As always difficult to choose a photo so have put a collage up as an extra. I chose the main blip photo because I liked the reflections.

Hope you are all safe and sound after the storm.
