Breathing room

A few degrees above freezing felt so mild today that I was compelled to tackle the pruning of the blue arrow junipers alongside the porch. Gloved, long sleeved, scarfed, hatted, and still they delivered a multitude of scratches and cuts that itch and burn tonight. While my skin has an obvious sensitivity to their sharp needles, oddly, my taste buds don't seem to have a problem with their berries.

This is not the juniper trees of course. It is the measuring tree in the south neighbors front yard. I must have missed the exact day that the sun set in the large notch between the two leader branches. It says the sun is on a fast track back to us.
