a lifetime burning

Ponytown

Like most places, where urban meets countryside the local fields have been taken over as pony paddocks.  Still, it gives me a blip subject for today, and the couple on the ponies were very polite and good natured.

A year ago I was enjoying a last pre-covid holiday in Iceland.  We went out to eat and went swimming in public pools most days.  It seems incredibly unlikely now.  Mixing with other people is very much a thing of the past and not something we are going to be able to do in the immediately foreseeable future.

Of course, the swimming was all outdoor swimming and the temperature was only ever at freezing at best, it occasionally hailed and snowed while we were swimming and it was nearly always pretty windy.  While that might seem unattractive, the water was wonderfully warm and very soothing.  If you ever get the chance I recommend it.
