LD 331 Ash Wednesday

The Scottish Episcopal Church of which I have been a life long member, though not a very assiduous one at present,  has a variety of practice, high and low, but I think this is the first time I have been sent ashes for Ash Wednesday in what can only be called a "wee poke".

However moving the ceremony and its significance outside the walls of a church  is not just a product of COVID lockdown (though given impetus by the closed buildings at present) but in some form or another (sometimes as "Ashes to Go" ) has been around for a while.
