Withdrawal Symptoms

Tonight I took a short walk round the block to get some fresh air and decided to swing past my local - just to see that it was still standing. As I did so I felt withdrawal symptoms  - it's been 12 months since I've had a pint and I am beginning to wonder what it feels like to enjoy the experience.
Kay's Bar stands in Jamaica Street and was formerly a georgian coach house mews building behind India Street. In Victorian times it was remodelled into a wine shop for John Kay & Sons and later converted into a bar in 1975.

Jamaica Street was built as workers housing in 1807-19 between Heriot Row and what was it be Royal Circus. Over the years the buildings deteriorated to such a squalid state that mostly were demolished in 1967.
The Extra Photos comprise a) a collage of memories and b) an archive shot showing the street pre-demolition (the building that is now Kays Bar can be seen on the left). The bulk of the street has been replaced by social housing of little architectural merit.
