Independent Breed

There are special breed sheep grazing on the grass pastures and the wider estate at Trentham Gardens. These include Jacob Sheep, Hebrideans and a few Herdwick. They are used as a low impact way of keeping the vegetation more diverse.

This young Herdwick spends little time with the others. It seems to seek out the company of the other breeds, as if it's playing out with the big kids!

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that the owners of Trentham Gardens, ST Modwen, has put the whole site up for sale. It's due to them losing a huge profit during the pandemic. Here's hoping a suitable buyer can be found to manage it as well as they have so far.
