Sarah Chang

I was standing next to Local Food Lover and Pilipo this afternoon when I was taking this picture. This is the young violinist Sarah Chang signing CD covers for folks who just bought her CD. I wonder if we will all blip Miss Chang today. We were in the lobby of the Mt Baker Theater at intermission during a Whatcom Symphony Orchestra concert.

Sarah Chang was the featured soloist and she played two pieces, a new violin and orchestra version of West Side Story and La Cabesa, a tango piece. She was marvelous. We are lucky here in Bellingham as this is her second time as soloist with our local orchestra. I am always amazed at the quality of the playing and the caliber of the soloists of this fine all volunteer orchestra.

One of the four finalists for the conductor position was on the podium today as well. It was a fine concert and it will be hard choosing among the four. We've heard three so far and they are all really good.

After the concert there was a reception where we all got to hear a brief interview with Miss Chang and with the conductor. And there was plenty of good food too. We had a lovely day.
