Red-legged partridge

Today's stamp is a Red-legged partridge from 1971 I think. It probably dates from the time that cheaper holidays to Spain became possible and was probably on a postcard sent back by a family member. My parents have been to Spain a few times, but though the most popular destination for Brits I've never actually been to the country myself.

The animal on the stamp is a Red-legged or French partridge, and a native of southern Europe, though introduced and widely farmed in the UK to be shot. I suspect that like most game birds in the UK many of them end up as road kills or given away after a shoot as no one actually eats them....

Busy day at work, not making any progress at all.... In the evening we watched two episodes of the Crimsons Rivers on TV, the plot was most preposterous and the action was quite silly...
