Moorhen - Gallinula chloropus

I'm afraid it has to be an anticlimax today after yesterdays excitement of a water rail.

I went back to the same hide and watched the same spot for an hour and a half. Several small birds passed through but at that distance, they are not blippable. The only larger birds to show were moorhens, mallards and a cock pheasant that always kept himself at least half hidden.

On the water were coots, tufties and little grebes but only the coot came close and was against the light so no detail.

Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus)
Conspicuously absent were the goldeneyes that were around a week ago.

I therefore offer you this moorhen as the best of a bad bunch.
