St. Alkmund's church in Duffield, where my first evening walk of the year began. I took a few photos on the way round but didn't like them so I took this at the end! St. Alkmund's is a little way from Duffield village, thought to be because it's by a bridge over the River Derwent used by pilgrims and other travellers.

When I went to bed I laid there for about an hour before I realised that I was never going to get warm unless I did something, so I put another layer on and my dressing gown over the duvet, I already had a hot water bottle! The thing is that I'd only eaten about 560 calories and then expended a few on the walk, and you need calories to keep you warm... well I do anyway.

I'm only doing a 5:2 fast day once a week as I don't want to lose weight now but am doing it for the other (supposed and hoped for) health benefits, but it's hard to fit it in. I'm ok walking 5 or 6 miles with no food, but not the length of walk that John and I do, and better to eat properly the day before too. I can't do 500 calories when my son comes for dinner, and preferably not when climbing... and then there are the days when I just don't want to do it. And now Ramblers walks are beginning again, which will add to my restricted choices. Oh well, carry on as best I can :-)
