RAF Altona

RAF Altona - circa 1951

Brought loads of my dad's old photos back to scan for my facebook group. I love this one, taken when he was doing his National Service in Germany in the early 1950s. On the back he has written:

"It's a shame this one didn't come out a bit lighter isn't it?
L to R: Eric, Tom, myself with my two mice on my wrist (you can see one tail hanging down). That's my bed-space we're in and you can see all my wall plaques also the queer contraption of a bedside light that Tom gave me (I'm always expecting it to blow up!)"

I lightened the photo a little. I seem to remember those wall plaques - they either used to be in our house or my grandma's. Wonder what happened to them?
