Abstract ..............

............. Thursday305  (AT305)  -  with thanks to Ingeborg for the optional challenge of " express yourself in edit ".

This is my head this week - tribulation follows tribulation, my brain is scrambled and I feel like I am bashing it against a brick wall!
Stop reading now if you want to not hear about my kitchen saga ...

My new kitchen renovation is due to start on 17 May ..........  I had a call from the kitchen company to say that my chosen unit doors/ends/etc are now discontinued and they cannot find enough from various suppliers to do the whole kitchen!!!!!!!!

Many genuine apologies from them BUT the Karndean flooring (ordered), the work/countertops (ordered), paint (bought), new curtains (bought) and various other bits and pieces to go with the chosen colour scheme could now well be defunct!  Grrrrrrrr.
I have to choose something else for the kitchen units which could have a knock-on effect.

Add to that, the six (room) doors we bought to update the downstairs, arrived, the joiner turned up on Wednesday to start hanging them, we unwrapped one and ..................... door #1 badly made and damaged ......... door #2 also badly made and damaged ......... we stopped unwrapping while I made a call to the building supply company.
They, too, couldn't have been more apologetic - I was asked to take photos, send them over, they would get in touch with the manufacturer and let me know what could be done.
See just three of the twenty five photos I took in the extras!
I had to send the poor joiner away but he was so nice when I offered to pay for his wasted time saying  " No, it's fine - I have a lot of stuff I need to do and the three days I was booked with you will be used to catch up "
How refreshing in this day and age.

I got a phone call early evening from the builders merchants saying that (unusually) the manufacturer agrees that the work is shoddy, they have quarantined the rest of the batch and agreed to a full refund - result - I wouldn't have minded quite so much if they had been cheapy-cheap doors but they were supposed to be top-of-the-range inlaid dark walnut (they weren't dark either) - HOWEVER I now have to find six more new doors to go with the kitchen that I have to re-choose and the rest of the house!   Another grrrrrrrrrr.

I am now waiting to hear from the kitchen company who have ordered a sample of something I found online and MIGHT like and they are making me a door to see what it looks like "in the flesh" as it were.

The crappy doors are being collected Tuesday - and my refund will be processed Wednesday/Thursday.

I've found some solid oak doors (not veneer or engineered oak) that I quite like but the showroom is in Hinckley (nearly 100 miles away) so next Wednesday I am driving across there to look at them and see if they can oil them a few shades darker.

Better news is that the electrician came by last night (Thursday - I am writing this on Friday) to discuss new kitchen lighting, switches, plug sockets, TV point, a couple of new outside lights front and back, etc. etc.  -  a very personable guy  -  two hours later and, after I had picked myself up off the floor after hearing his guesstimated quote, he went away to prepare a final binding quote which will arrive later today (Friday).   Something went right eventually (even though I may have to remortgage the house to pay the nice electrician) - it's the expertise that you have to have (Health & Safety & Regulations) which ups the price for those kind of things!  Hey ho, nonny nonny no!

My week so far in a blip!

Do I have a "Smile for the Day"  -  of course I do, I'm like Tigger, bouncy bouncy and not down for long!!  (or is the bouncy bouncy bit down to overeating in lockdown?? lol)

Three men are sitting around a table, in a bar, talking about their wives.

The first man says, "I think my wife is having an affair with an electrician. When I got home last night I found a pair of pliers and some insulating tape behind the radiator in the bedroom - we've not had any work done on the house and I can't think of any other way they could have got there".

The second man says, "I think my wife is having an affair with a carpenter. Last night I found a tool belt in the laundry basket and we've not had any renovations to the house in years..."

The third man says, "I'm in the same boat but I don't think you two have it as bad as I do ...... My wife is having an affair with a horse!"

The two other man both look shocked and demand an explanation.

The third man leans back and says: "It's very simple, boys, when I got home last night, I found a jockey hidden in the wardrobe."

Boom boom!
