Homemaker

With severe weather coming in later in the day I went for a quick morning walk along the river.

Although there were quite a few blackcaps and chiffchaffs singing, as well as a solitary reed warbler, it seemed quieter than I would have expected for early May - perhaps all the birds were hunkering down ready for the storm.

The tree foliage has now faded to summer green, but the herbaceous plants still seem to think it's mid-March, with only a few clumps of cuckooflower and lesser celandine in bloom.

It's clearly business as usual for this chiffchaff who seemed to be very proud of the feather it had found.
