Bryan's pot

Bryan was our boss for a time in the 1980s. We were attached to a NSW Government unit called the Program Evaluation Unit, which back then was a powerhouse of ideas and a wonderfully stimulating place to work.
Bryan was also a potter and he gave us this pot. I think he envisaged it as a storage jar for flour. It is decorated with wheat ears and originally it had an airtight cork cover (to keep the weevils out).
However we immediately saw its potential as a container for cooking utensils, and that’s how we have used it, for 35 years and in three different houses. When you have been using something for that long, how could you ever replace it?
