The Lozarithm Lens

Sells Green (Friday 14th May 2021)

Having completed a bout of shopping in Melksham I drove back via Sells Green and parked in Spout Lane so that I could visit the Kennet and Avon, only my second visit to anywhere on the canal this year. It was quite busy, with several boats passing through heading in the direction of Bath, and people busily occupied on the moored boats. After a while a swan came in from one of the side pounds with these eight cygnets in tow, and at the same time I saw a heron on the far bank to my left (see Extra). The canal was covered in fallen blossom and at times clouds of it fell from above.
When I got back to the bridge where I had begun, I explored the canal in the other direction, photographing the wildflowers and the boats going past (second Extra). I was using my red camera/yellow camera set-up again, but had replaced the kit lens on the red K50 with a limited edition prime 35mm lens which I mostly used on wildflower shots.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Zutons – Valerie (from the Later Archive, 2006)
The new series of Later featured Noel Gallagher choosing his favourites from past shows and proved an entertaining guest. One of his choices, complete with introductory anecdote, was this original version of Valerie, later recorded by Amy Winehouse.
