Sgwarnog: In the Field

Excursion

A modest excursion after work took me a couple of miles down Airedale on the train to Apperley Bridge station, and from there a walk down to the river and up through the woods along the route of Calverley Cutting.

The destination was Calverley’s Victoria Park for some grassroots football (Yorkshire Amateur League).   Calverley United were hosting  Wortley (extra). The visitors won 3-1.

My route also involved crossing the Leeds-Liverpool canal at Thornhill Bridge (214B), which gave the opportunity to record this colourful scene. I've still not walked the canal beyond this point, the first/last six miles into Leeds, other than some short stretches in the city centre. Another walk on the waiting list.
