Horse Chestnut Flowers

The last of Mrs madwill’s birthday treats today...afternoon tea with our son, daughter, son in law and, of course, the grandchildren! We booked into Hazlewood Castle Hotel (near Tadcaster) for 1 p.m.

I had requested that we sit in the library - there are large sofas, and a bit of room for the youngsters to spread out. They were also fascinated by all the old books on the shelves and the ‘secret door’ in the bookshelves leading off to another part of the hotel. We had been in there about three years ago...so we knew what to expect!

The tea was very nice, however it was marred somewhat by eldest granddaughter having an allergic reaction to something in the food despite us requesting a dairy free selection for her. The staff were very apologetic and assured us that had used only vegan ingredients.... however her reaction told us that something must have slipped in. Luckily it wasn’t too serious...no epi pens required!  Eating out is such a minefield.

We finished up coming back to our house..where granddaughter soon recovered. We spent the rest of the day chatting and building Lego.

Photo was taken this morning whilst Mrs madwill and I were out for a walk...3.75 miles today, and a bit easier than recent days.
