Scenic railroad returns

The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad closed in March 2020 because of the pandemic. Today it returned, and people lined up to board.

It's running the diesel engines for now. It has an old steam engine, but that's being worked on with the hope that it returns later in the summer. Considering how fun it is to photograph this train, that engine should be especially fun.

I'd say more than half the roughly 200 riders were masked. There's also an open-air car, which I'd ride in if I were to take the trip. I don't think I'm comfortable enough for this yet, though.

The scenic railroad rides 16 miles to Frostburg. It's along the same route the GAP trail takes. Then the engine is turned around on a turntable and it comes back to Cumberland. It does sound like fun.
