Butterfly hunting...

the heatwave continues in Essex! We braved the heat this morning as we were going a bit stir crazy, and ended up at one of the nature reserves on Canvey.  Very deserted again - I guess the 'lockdown' visitors have found their old pursuits to be more enjoyable now!

So today involved lots of crawling around on the floor trying to snap reluctant butterflies - saw a  few small heath butterflies, and this brown argus (i think?!) which made a nice change!

And the cuckoo calling continued! last time we visited we kept hearing the cuckoo call but could never track him down - well this time we actually saw him fly overhead, but still couldn't find him in various places where we were tracking his song to...one day.... maybe!!
