Cupola Bridge

This bridge, over the River Allen, was built in 1778. It now carries the A686, a stunningly picturesque road which runs from Haydon Bridge up to Alston, the highest market town in England at 1,000 feet above sea level. Just before the bridge, is the confluence of the rivers West Allen and East Allen before joining the South Tyne approx 6 miles away.
