Fire Up The Quattro

My friend R is what motoring pundits refer to as a petrol head. He loves his cars. I can see why. In the last few years he has gone through a list of vehicles which includes a Golf GTi, Porsche 911, Audi R8, Porsche Macan, Audi S4, and just as a run around he uses a Hyundai I30 N. Oh, and a Range Rover which died under warranty and went back to the dealer faster than the listed performance figures suggest was possible.
If you know anything at all about cars you will realise that the key word here is performance. Or to be more precise, speed. The vehicle shown is pretty rapid. I like the various analogies used to describe how fast a car can go.
'greased lightening', 'bat out of hell' 'sh*# off a shovel' to name but a few.. For the record this one is limited to just over 170mph and can travel from a standing start to 60 mph in under 4 seconds.
Compare that to my ageing Focus estate. 0-60 eventually, and top speed of about 115mph....all elementary anyway in a country where the maximum legal speed is 70 mph and most inner city roads are limited to 30 mph or less in some cases. I genuinely don't see the point of these cars. Playthings for people with more money than sense. But I wouldn't mind having a go!

Thank you to everyone who commented and expressed concern yesterday. So kind. Pleased to say much better today, and looking forward to the weekend.

Cheers!
