The Woodland Garden (Tuesday 8th June 2021)

I took my round of breakfast-time garden pictures with the camera still set at the experimental settings that had proved so unsuccessful at Caen Hill that I wondered if the lens or camera were faulty. When I looked at the results the decayed iris looked like this.

I retook the subjects of the pictures immediately afterwards, using a different camera as a precaution, but it was just the settings that had given the images the retro desaturated film look, and once adjusted the lens was fine.

The blip of the vine patch was taken later, shortly after midday. The Canary marguerite daisies (Argyranthemum frutescens) had transfomed the patch almost overnight.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Miracles - Money (That's What I Want) (1961)
Barrett Strong had had Motown's biggest success to date with Money (That's What I Want) and thanks to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and, much later, the Flying Lizards it is still one of their best known songs. Although credited to Berry Gordy and lyricist Janie Bradford, the song, also claimed by Barrett Strong himself, derives from a song brought up from the deep South, a version having been recorded in Detroit by John Lee Hooker using moonlighting Motown musicians. The Miracles' longer version appeared on their debut album, Hi, We're The Miracles, which I replayed on this day.
