Hairy cactus

It has been an increasingly wet day so by the time I was getting desparate for a photograph I really did not want to venture out with my camera. Instead, I cast my eye about and it alighted on this hairy cactus. I don't know the purpose of all its whiskers but I think it is quite attractive, in a strange way.
