The Woodland Garden (Thursday 10th June 2021)

I always look forward to the blooming of my Iris foetidissima each year and having been planted at my small pond they have spread successfully all over the Woodland Garden, including the driveway patch and a raised bed in the front yard where nothing will grow. We noticed they were on the verge of emerging on Wednesday, and during the night a large number of them burst open. It is also known as gladdon, roast beef plant (because of the scent from its leaves when brushed against) and of course, stinking iris.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Laura Nyro - Save The Country (recorded 10 June 1968, Columbia Studios, Hollywood CA)
Recorded on this day 1968, this is the single version of her song Save The Country (she later re-recorded it for the album New York Tendaberry). It was written after the 5 June 1968 assassination of Robert Kennedy, and became a hit for Fifth Dimension. Other notable versions include one by Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and the Trinity on their album Street Noise.
